Event Overview:
As part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, the Australian Embassy and the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) are proud to host a panel discussion under the theme: Cambodia’s Progress and Challenges in Ending Violence Against Women.
This event highlights Cambodia’s achievements in addressing gender-based violence (GBV) since the landmark Beijing Declaration, supported by Australia and other international partners. The discussion will also address ongoing challenges and opportunities for advancing gender equality and ensuring a safer future for women and girls in Cambodia.
Purpose:
The panel discussion aims to:
- Showcase Cambodia’s significant progress in combating GBV through collaborative efforts.
- Identify challenges that persist in achieving gender equality.
- Encourage dialogue and action among stakeholders to eliminate violence against women and girls.

The panel will feature key representatives and experts from:
- Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA)
- Australian Embassy in Cambodia
- ACCESS 2 (Australia-Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services)
- United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)
- Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP)
- Other United Nations agencies
Expected Attendance:
Approximately 220 participants, including government officials, development partners, civil society organisations, academics, and members of the public.
