Rehabilitation Services
The transition of physical rehabilitation service to Ministry of Health (MoH) management is in its early stages. This is anticipated to be a complex process which ACCESS 2 can offer valuable support to the RGC to embed the institutional changes required and ensure continuity of services and care for persons with disabilities for the interim period. Cambodia’s first Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) reporting process will be important in identifying priorities for strengthening disability policy and strategy, and ACCESS 2 will be well positioned to support RGC to respond to recommendations of the CPRD Committee.
ACCESS 2 works to support disability services to be more gender responsive. This includes supporting greater and more equitable access of female clients to services; strengthening systems and processes to ensure service delivery is safe and dignified for women, and compatible with the realities of their domestic and childcare responsibilities; and supporting career pathways for female professionals within disability services, including as social workers, physio therapists (PTs), prosthetists and orthotists (P&Os).
