The 16 Days of Activism to End Gender Based Violence (GBV) has been observed for more than three decades to raise public awareness, challenge discriminatory attitudes, and call for an end to violence against women across the world.
This year’s global theme is “Unite to End Digital Violence Against All Women and Girls”. The theme is a reminder that ending violence against women is essential so women and girls can achieve their full potential, including online and in digital spaces. It also reinforces that progress requires sustained action throughout the year.

On 08/12/2025, the Australia Cambodia Cooperation for Equitable Sustainable Services, Phase 2 (ACCESS 2) program hosted a staff event in Phnom Penh to commemorate the campaign. The session reaffirmed our shared commitment to help prevent GBV and to support survivors to access quality, safe, and inclusive services, including women and girls with disabilities.
The event also highlighted the important role of men in ending gender-based violence. Two guest speakers shared practical strategies and facilitated discussion on different forms of violence, root causes, and approaches to reduce GBV. Participants actively contributed perspectives on what individuals and workplaces can do to help eliminate violence against women and girls.
The Australian Government, through ACCESS 2, has supported Cambodia’s 16 Days of Activism campaign, led by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, for many years. During the 16 Days campaign period, ACCESS 2 also shares awareness raising content through our social media channels and website, highlighting services that support survivors, with and without disabilities.
Everyone has a role to play in contributing to the global effort to eliminate GBV. We all benefit from safer communities, and we encourage everyone to stand together to end violence against women and girls.
ACCESS 2 is funded by the Australian Government and managed by Abt Global.
